The International Dissertation Research Grants program is designed to support AAR student members whose dissertation research requires them to travel outside of the country in which their school or university is located. Grants are intended to help candidates complete their doctoral degrees by offsetting costs of travel, lodging, and other dissertation research-related expenses. (Grant monies may not be used for tuition, computer hardware, or meals.) This is a competitive program: applications will be reviewed by a jury of senior scholars appointed by the AAR President.
Pre-dissertation research travel grants will be awarded to 8-10 students for research-related travel abroad during summer 2015. Each fellowship will consist of a $1,000 stipend plus round-trip economy airfare from Indianapolis to the location where research will be conducted. (Travel from other points of origin in the US is possible if cost of airfare is comparable.) Funds from a Summer Pre-dissertation Research Grant will not be awarded to students who are receiving funds from another source for the same purpose and during the same award period.
