October 28 - last day to submit defensible draft of the dissertation (along with signed Forms 3 and 4) to the Graduate School for graduation in December 2014
November 18 - last day to defend dissertation for graduation in December 2014
November 25 - last day to submit final version of dissertation and complete all other requirements for graduation in December 2014
For permission to print and defend the dissertation at a public examination to be granted, all but one of the articles in an article dissertation must be approved for publication – this also pertains to dissertations with six or more component articles.

Defending the dissertation may seem old hat. Perhaps you have already given the essence of the defense in group or department seminars. Go through the vu graphs a few times anyway, speaking the words you will be saying. This will give you a sort of unconscious “muscle memory” of the tongue that will stay with you during the presentation. Even if you know what you want to say, the words might not come easily unless you rehearse.
